Jack Edwards Airport

A.G. Peltz was contracted to construct a new apron at Jack Edwards Airport in Gulf Shores, Alabama, demonstrating expertise in large-scale concrete paving projects. The project included the placement of 27,000 square yards (SY) of 15-inch Portland Cement Concrete concrete pavement and 30,000 SY of 6-inch Cement Treated Base (CTB).

Utilizing a state-of-the-art Wirtgen SP94i Slipform paver, the PCC pavement was laid in 30-foot-wide lanes to ensure precision and uniformity. The project was executed over 15 paving days, reflecting the team’s commitment to efficiency and quality.

To enhance durability and manage thermal expansion, contraction joints were sawn at 15-foot intervals, ensuring long-term performance and minimizing potential cracking. This meticulous approach to joint placement highlights A.G. Peltz’s dedication to delivering superior results for aviation infrastructure projects.
