Kansas City Southern Wylie Intermodal Facility

A.G. Peltz Group completed the paving for the Kansas City Southern (KCS) Intermodal Facility in Wylie, TX, placing over 100,000 cubic yards of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) using both single and dual lift applications. RCC was selected for its strength, durability, and low maintenance, making it ideal for heavy-duty areas such as container stacking, loading zones, and high-traffic entry and exit points.

To meet the project’s demanding schedule, A.G. Peltz Group utilized two ARAN 280C pugmills for continuous RCC mixing, ensuring consistent material quality. On peak production days, up to three high-density pavers were operated simultaneously, maximizing efficiency and ensuring uniform placement. This large-scale RCC application provided a cost-effective, long-lasting pavement solution capable of withstanding the rigorous demands of intermodal freight operations.

The Kansas City Southern has utilized RCC at several facilities in its network including multiple projects in Wylie, Kendleton, TX, Salinas, MX, and Toluca, MX. Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) acquired Kansas City Southern (KCS) in 2023. The combined entity is known as the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC).
