A.G. Peltz placed 7,779 SY of 8” PCC Pavement for the Northwest Apron Expansion in Gallatin, TN at the MCEA (Sumner County Regional Airport). The PCC placement was completed with a Wirtgen 64 paver at 25’ lane widths with contraction joints sawn at 12.5’ intervals. Transverse tie bars and dowels at 1’ foot centers were utilized as per FAA Specifications. The 2” slump max ready-mix concrete was supplied by Garrott Brothers. The Mix was designed for a 650 Flex at 28 days. Strength testing included making on-site flexural beams and breaking at 7, 28, and 56 days. A minimum strength of 550 Flex was required at 7 days before the adjacent lane was allowed to be placed.
